Brothers in Arms: Living with Heroes

James Holland takes us on a very personal journey to discover the men who served in the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry during the war. A pre-war territorial unit, the Sherwood Rangers went to war on horseback, sent to Palestine, and seemed like a relic of a different age. Through adversity and through the hard bloody lessons of war, they shed their old skin and transformed themselves into one of the foremost armoured regiments in the British Army, later spearheading the D-Day invasion and ending the war in Northern Germany as the single unit with more battle honours than any other.  In this talk, James explains who these men were, how they kept going and why, for him, they remain something of a leitmotif for the experience of the British Army in the war.
